C. Scott Obituary

C. Robert Scott

Lansing - C. Robert Scott, loving husband, father, Papa, musician and master woodwind technician, went peacefully to meet the Lord on June 7, 2018 at the age of 93. He was at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was one of our few remaining WWII Navy Veterans. Survived by his 1st wife, Dora Louise and their 3 loving daughters, Evelyn (Tom) Cunningham of Ellsworth, Merianne (Evan) Harrison of AZ, and Barbara Carlisle of East Lansing; and his loving wife of 58 years, Isabelle (Issie) and their 6 children, John (Janie) Scott of CA, Cheryl (James) Dunn of Bath, Lorie (George) Zenker of Sault Ste. Marie, Linda (Andrew) Gewirtz of Ovid, Timothy (Christine) Scott of FL, and Raymond (Becky) Scott of Holt; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who loved and adored him. He was a 15 year member of the Lansing Symphony, played in the Lansing Concert Band for over 30 years, and was the woodwind repairman at Interlochen Music Camp for 38 summers. He spent his lifetime providing for his family, working magic in his basement repair shop for musicians everywhere. The music community has lost a genius and a legend. Heaven has gained an angel who will play the oboe instead of a harp. Special thanks to Jennifer and Heartland Hospice. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Colonial Village Baptist Church where Bob was a long time member, or to the Lansing Concert Band. Visitation will be 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM Monday, June 11, 2018 at Tiffany Funeral Home, 3232 W. Saginaw, Lansing. Funeral Service is 2:00 PM Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at Colonial Village Baptist Church, 2010 Boston Blvd., Lansing with burial following at Deepdale Memorial Park. Bob was one of a kind. He was so, so great when working with him on my oboe or English Horn. I have a EH bocal he made that I use exclusively. Condolences to his family. He will be greatly missed.

Bob Scott was my "uncle-in-law" when I was married to his nephew, Don Scott. I first met Bob and Dora and their 3 daughters (at that time) in the 1950's. He was very kind to us and was almost like a second dad to Don and his brother Pete (Everett's sons). Bob helped Don out when he went into the Marines by taking Don's car as well as the payments! Don and I and our four children visited Bob up at Interlochen when he was there working with the music camp.

Bob was a kind and gentle man, always willing to help others out. I was fortunate enough to be able to attend his 90th birthday party in Lansing, attended by his wonderful family and many friends. Congratulations to you Bob on a long and successful life, well lived and loved by all who knew him. JoAnn Scott
