Shirley Ann (Anderson) Zink
East Lansing - Shirley Ann Zink, 91, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2020, in East Lansing, Michigan. Born September 7, 1929, in Rockland, Michigan (God's Country), to Mary and Edward Anderson, Shirley graduated top of her high school class as Valedictorian in 1947. She spent her younger years in Rockland until she met the love of her life John Zink. Shirley and John were married for over 63 years until John's death on July 1, 2017. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents Mary and Edward Anderson, sister Jeanette, and brother Lawrence.
After all five kids were in school, Shirley worked many years for Michigan State University Residence Dining Services in a variety of locations, where she was known as the "Salad Lady." She also worked in MSU Concessions for several years. She was a loyal Spartan fan to the end and loved attending and watching MSU Basketball. She enjoyed card games and puzzles and was a fierce Bingo player at Independence Village, always joking with staff and other residents. She loved baking, cooking, camping, going to the cottage, visiting her home in Rockland, and most of all, spending time with her family and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a very loved and happy wife, mother, and grandmother.
She will be lovingly remembered by daughter Mary Dolton; sons, David (Kay) Zink, John (Pam) Zink Jr., Larry Zink, and Michael (Michelle) Zink; grandchildren, Kim (Dennis) Consavage, Tina Dolton, Mark (Lori) Zink, Michelle (George) Earle, Bethany (Josh) Donnell, Adam Zink, Madelyn Zink, Lillian Zink, Gloria Zink, Danielle (Sam) Diekevers, Eric (Mckenzie) Zink, Jared (Lizzy) Zink, and Brandon Zink; and great-grandchildren, Jack, James, Sarah, Bryce, Nolan, Ezekiel, Evelyn, Jackson, and Kingston.
