Lillian Morton Hamb

Services for Lillian Morton Hamb, 80, of Lufkin, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 23, 2017 at Chestnut Drive Baptist Church, with Bro. Blackie Cranford and Bro. Brad Forrest officiating. Interment will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 24, 2017 in the Denson Cemetery in Grapeland. Mrs. Hamb was born January 7, 1937 in Madisonville, Texas, the daughter of the late Beatrice and Harry Morton. She passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2017 in a local hospital. Mrs. Hamb was a loving wife and mother. She was a wonderful cook and was a dedicated Army wife for 27 years. Lillian was a thoughtful and faithful servant of the Lord. She was a very active member of Chestnut Drive Baptist Church and regularly served on the kitchen committee. She will be missed by all who knew her. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Debbie Hamb of McPherson, Kansas; brother, Melroy Morton of El Paso; sister, Ruby Whitmire of Splendora; sister and brother-in-law, Mattie "Tootsie" and Paul Chipman of Longview; a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members; as well as many special friends. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hamb was preceded in death by her husband, Joe W. Hamb, Jr.; son, Joe Steven Hamb; 1 sister; and 4 brothers. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Chestnut Drive Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday at Gipson Funeral Home.
