Professor Brenner was the first Electrical Engineering teacher I had when I began my studies for a BEE degree at CCNY back in 1958. I was immediately impressed with his teaching ability, and signed up for his classes whenever I could. I have often commented to people that of all the teachers I've ever had, from kindergarten through PhD, the one whom I admired the most and considered to be the best was Egon Brenner. There isn't even a close second.

After I left CCNY I lost touch with Professor Brenner although I wish that I hadn't. About five years ago I became curious as to what happened to him, and that's when I discovered his passing. I'm sure his memory will live on in all the many aspiring students that he mentored.

I knew Egon from the time I began study at CCNY for the BEE degree, through the MEE and PhD degree. All those years I learned much from him and was exposed to his wit. I had the privilege to visit him in Florida towards the end of his years while on a trip from Jerusalem. He is still missed.

Dear Rhoda and family,
I was searching the Internet to see if you had moved, when the notice of Egon's Z"L passing came up. It made me very sad and I remembered the visit my wife Caryn and I paid to your home in Florida just after we married, a bit over 6 years ago. I was amazed that after more than 30 years Egon remembered me so well, as an undergraduate student and as a PhD student, which I (finally) achieved in 1972. We now have 2 small boys and travel is not a trivial matter from so far away but we were thinking that we would come to visit you again when we are able to travel. Egon's memory stays with us, and we wish you comfort in that he had such a meaningful life. May his memory be for a blessing.

Dear Rhoda
I just got the latest issue of CCNY Alumnus and was sorry to hear of your loss. We shared an office, and then adjoining offices, once we moved into administrative positions. Elaine and I remember him well. We dearly remember his attempt at being a actor in "HMS Pinafore??"

Professor Brenner was the faculty advisor to the City College Vector, the engineering magazine at CCNY, when I was the editor-in-chief. He was very helpful to me as an engineering student interested in journalism. I went on to become editor-in-chief of Business Week and now dean of the CYNY Graduate School of Journalism. He was an inspiring man who helped me find my way.
