Jill, I was so sorry to hear of your mom's passing. I saw her a couple of years ago in Algonac and she was the same Joan as she was when we were all young at the flats. She was a very good friend to my mom and helped her through tough times in life. She will always be remembered as a close family friend by all of our family. You're in my prayers.

Jill, I am so sorry to hear about your mom's passing. Where do I begin? So many wonderful memories since grade school through our teenage years with your mom. She was a pistol. So much fun, on-the-ball all the time. No one could get past Joan. I learned so much from her. I always admired her and thought she was the spitting image of Doris Day when we were in high school. Even when I would run into her in Algonac and say hi, she was the same ole Joan. Quick-witted and laughing. I will miss her very much. God will take care of her. Prayers to you and your family in these sad days.

I have lost my only remaining sister, and it is a painful loss. Joan is my big sister and has always been good to me. We always enjoyed an excellent relationship, and we spoke almost weekly for the past several years, something we both enjoyed.
Joan had an enthusiasm for life and was ever loyal to her friends and family.
Joan had a wonderful and comical sense of humor and lightened the lives of all who knew her. I will miss her terribly. God bless you joan.

I must say a few words about my longtime friend/mentor--Joan Brown. I knew her through the restaurant business--I bartended with her at Surf North in the late 70's. She was dynamic, quick witted, kind hearted and had a great sense of humor, as well. A class act, all the way. I learned much from her about the restaurant/bar business and will always remember her reminiscing about her "skinny blonde" days. I think she appeared with the Ink Spots at Sid's!!! She will always be fondly remember by many.

I lost more then just my Gram I lost my best friend, the years I was able to spend with you at the cottage were the best years of my life you were always the first one in the water and the last one out, no matter the weather you always managed to get across.

I remember all the years you were Mrs. Claus at Surf North and all the special times we have had, I am so blessed my son was able to have some great adventures with you as well.

I will remember your feather boas and glitter in your beautiful hair, your strenght, determination, love, and kindness and the ability to tell people what you really thought(even if they did not want to know).

I know the chapters will continue I just wish they were with you, I love you so very much and will forever miss you....

Hi Jill, it's been a long time since I saw your mom but so sad to hear of her passing. I have a very fun memory of her when we took a weekend trip to Alpena when we were in high school! Hoping to be able to catch up with you and have a great visit. My thoughts and prayers to you and your family at this time.
