I've spent much of my time these last few months wishing I had given myself an opportunity to know Uncle Dick much better. I'm very glad my children had a chance to meet him so I can share with them the stories I've been gifted, and tell them of the man they've met. Love you so much Aunt Claren.

Doris and John's wedding - Jan 1944?

Dear Claren,
Don and I send our sincere condolences to you and the family. I have warm and wonderful memories of times with Dick and the Bannow family from the age of 8 when he and I were part of brother John and Doris' wedding party - he was the best man and I was flower girl (Jan 1944?). I will attempt to attach a photo. We tried to visit a couple years back when we were in Michigan visiting relatives and came to Mt. Clemens to visit Doris' gravesite. I so regret we were not able to connect. Dick was so lovely to be with, he will be sorely missed and a life worthy of celebration. We will be meeting John, Paul, and Tom in NYC in a couple weeks and will have a small memorial to honor him. With love and peace - Mabelle (Kelly) and Don Murray

Dick Bannow was a rare combination of accomlished and humble. Dick, Claren and their family moved across the street from our family in Seminole Hills and our families were lifelong friends from then on.
Dick was always interested in our lives and the many twists and turns life threw at all of us. He was also very funny which went well with his quick wit and pleasing smile.
Our deep condolences to Claren and the kids for his recent passing. All of us whose lives Dick touched will sorely miss him. May God watch over him always.

Very sorry to here of Mr. Bannow's death and my condolences to his family. My most vivid memory of Mr. Bannow was when I was growing up in Seminole Hills and I would pay a visit to Bannow Drug - either on an errand for my Mom or for something for me. He was always the smiling, cheerful face of Bannow Drug and always so helpful because you know, kids are prone to forget half of what their mother told them. I moved away after high school but the goodness and character that he exhibited every day made a dent in me. We can all take a lesson from the life he lived.

I worked at Mr Bannow's Pharmacy store for 6 1/2 years.. He was the best boss I have ever had.. The man was kind hearted, warm, understanding and one of the finest men you'll ever have the good luck of meeting.. and funny....
