Steve Morgan Obituary

Steve Morgan, Sr.
Aug. 16, 1938 - Sept. 5, 2014
Kathleen, GA- Steve Pierce Morgan, Sr.; husband, dad, grandfather and friend to many, went to be with Jesus on September 5, 2014. Steve was born in Honoraville, Alabama on August 16, 1938. He moved to Warner Robins at the age of 9 when his dad began working as a lineman at Robins Field.
Steve was a great athlete and soon became quarterback on the first football team at Warner Robins High School as a freshman. In his freshman year, he lettered in four sports; football, baseball, basketball, and track. After graduating in 1957, he served a two year hitch in the Navy and then worked several jobs in WR. His love was carpentry and in the early 70's he started Hallmark Cabinet Company. From 1972-1976 he served on city council.
Once a Demon always a Demon was true for him, as he is a lifetime member of the Warner Robins High School Touchdown Club and served as President in 1983 and 1986. As a Warner Robins High School alumnus, he was most proud of the fact that he played a major role in building the McConnell - Talbert Stadium Field house. After selling the cabinet business, he went to work at Robins Air Force Base and then Campbell Roofing. During his few years of retirement he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was an active member of Second Baptist Church and the Helping Hands Ministry.
He will be forever missed by his wife Barbara, children Steve, Jr (Pam), Stephanie Dixon, and Mark; grandchildren Steve III "Trey", Faith, Micah, Brandon and Zackary Dixon, Bryce and Caleb. He is also survived by his sisters Betty (Ted) Buck, Felicia (Kent) Yocum, Patricia (Joe) Ivey, several nieces and nephews, and his faithful companion, Junior, who never left his side. He was preceded in death by his parents Manley & Doris, brother Lamar and sister Linda.
Visitation will be Tuesday, September 9, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at Second Baptist church with family receiving friends one hour prior. Burial will be private.
