Richard Johnson Obituary

RANDOLPH -- Richard M. Johnson of Lincoln Street passed away Friday evening, July 8, 2005, at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta.

He was born in Portland on Jan. 15, 1953, a son of Maurice and Marie Bolduc Johnson.

A graduate of South Portland High School, class of 1971, Richard was employed at Rite-Aid for eight years as a field merchandiser, retiring due to illness. He enjoyed flying his remote-control airplanes and his volunteer phone calls for the Gardiner Area Food Center, and he had a great love for people.

Richard leaves behind the lights of his life -- his daughter, Kaitlyn Richelle Johnson; and his wife, Kendra Newcombe-Johnson, both of Randolph. He also leaves behind two stepchildren, Dick Brown and his companion, Paula Sousa, of Bridgewater, Mass., and Amy Northrup and her husband, Bob, and their daughter, Arianna, of Saco; his brother, Paul Johnson and his wife, Cynthia, of Portland; and several brothers-in-law, nephews, a niece and lots of good friends.

Visiting hours are noon-4 p.m. Sunday, July 10, at their home on 6 Lincoln St., Randolph. A celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 11, at Highland Avenue United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Highland Avenue United Methodist Church, or to Camp Mechuwana, c/o Kay Gregory, 118 Adams St., Farmingdale 04344.

Arrangements are under the care of Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Ave., Gardiner.

I was so sorry to hear about Richard. Les, the boys and I were in Florida and did not know of his passing until Sunday morning the 10th. I never had the opportunity to really get to know Richard, but the few times I did spend with him, I found him to be extremely easy-going and funny.
