Paul Moshimer Obituary

Paul D. Moshimer, 65
PALMER, Mass. - Paul Desmond Moshimer, 65, of Palmer, Mass., left this world on May 27, 2015. He was the son of the late Joan Leith and Robert H. Moshimer. Paul was born on Feb. 23, 1950, in Auburn, and attended school in Portland where he graduated from Deering High School.
He attended Boston University and joined his parents in their business, The Rug Hooker Studio in Kennebunkport, where he was the manager for 35 years.
Paul's true passion was being of service to others. He began as a volunteer firefighter with the Wildwood Station in Kennebunkport in the late 1970s, eventually expanding his career to serve the town as Fire Chief, as well as working as a widely respected firefighter, EMT, Safety Officer, and instructor for several towns and organizations throughout York county. Additionally, Paul served the town of Kennebunkport as the board of directors for Graves Library and as a Selectman.
Paul's greatest gifts to this world are his daughters Elsie and Rose, of whom he was immensely proud, and to them passed his love and compassion for the living world around them. Paul spent the final years of his life as co-director of Blue Star Equiculture, where he rescued and rehabilitated working horses.
Paul is survived by his wife Pamela Rickenbach of Palmer, Mass.; his girls, Elsie Moshimer and Rose Moshimer of Kennebunk; his sister Jean Moshimer Deupree of Portland; several nieces and a nephew; and his former wife Pat Cole Moshimer of Kennebunk.
A Memorial for Paul will be held on June 20, at Washington Hose Fire Station in Lower Village, Kennebunk, at 4 p.m.

A kindred soul I met along the way....sorry we never got to have 'that' talk Paul, fare thee well. I met Paul in Kennebunk and he stayed with me in Seattle on a visit. I would have loved to have had Paul in my rugby team back in England.

Met Paul back in 1970 when we had moved up to Maine. He was a warm and kind human back then and he introduced me to 'Pink Floyd'. I don't know why his name popped into my head but yesterday, December 8th, 2018 it did. I was sad to hear that he had passed away but was warmed by the story of his life. We met only briefly but his memory lasted.

Paul,
Your essence lives on......the love lives on....whenever I will see the wind moving through the leaves of a tree....there will you be.....it is where we all meet upon that divine wind and, whenever I will think of you.....I will always remember LOVE

Go gently, now...

Perhaps the best way to honor a kinsman who has died: to re-dedicate to living our own lives well, with compassion, dignity and a sense of service to all we meet. Peace to Paul, and comfort.. to those who loved him.

I admired Paul and his work at Blue Star in Palmer. I didn't know him well but through our few conversations I knew he was a very special man. May he rest peacefully now and forever.

I have learned of Paul and Blue Star Epiculture from reading J Katz blog. I am so very sorry to hear of his death. Upon reading his obituary I made the connection to Joan Moshimer and her Rug Hooking Studio which was a big part of my life in the eighties when I was a rug hooker as well, I may well have ordered supplies from Paul.
Once again I am very sorry to hear of his tragic death and will keep you and your family in my thoughts.
