Scott MacLean Obituary

Scott H. MacLean, 74
BRUNSWICK -- Scott H. MacLean, 74, died peacefully at his home on Elwell Lane, Wednesday, April 21, 2010, surrounded by his family after a three year courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on April 19, 1936, in Topsham, the son of Ralph A. and Natalie Ackley MacLean. He was a graduate of Brunswick High School and attended MCI, Pittsfield. He served as a radio technician for the U.S. Army. He was married to Donna Peacock for 12 years.
Scott owned and operated MacLean's Restaurant on outer Pleasant Street for over 40 years. There he encouraged many young people to work hard and provided them with the necessary skills for a successful life. He was also a lifetime member of The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks.
Scott enjoyed basketball, having played throughout his youth and at MCI. In later years, he spent the winter months in the Florida Keys and Melbourne Beach, Fla., and his summers in Maine. Being raised on the coast, his love of the ocean allowed him many enjoyable moments boating, fishing, and lobstering.
He was predeceased by two daughters, Sandra Ann and Marti MacLean. He is survived by two daughters, Tammy L. MacLean of Niverville, N.Y., Deborah S. MacLean of Port St. Lucia Fla.; two brothers, David MacLean of Brunswick, Mark MacLean of Portland, a sister Connie Baribeau of Brunswick; three grandchildren, Jeremy, Justin, and Jordan Keough of Niverville, N.Y.; a great-grandson, Logan Scott Keough; nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 27, at the Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal St., Brunswick. Following the service, a celebration of Scott's life will continue at the Elks Lodge, Brunswick. For those unable to attend, condolences can be expressed at www.brackettfuenralhome.com.

I first meet Scotty thru my Father(Bobby Lowell). We used to visit the family and of course go to the Restaurant. I always enjoyed when he would come out of the kitchen and sit down with us. Always took the time to see us kids and ask how things were. When I got old enough, on Sundays, it was snowmobile racing. Scotty, my father, my brother and myself would go racing together. Racing Artic Cats at the Big O track in Brunswich and all over the state. After my father past away Scotty would stop in Freeport to see my mother on his way back from Florida. Scotty was a great guy and I will miss him. My heart goes out to the MacLean Family
