Robert Pepper Obituary

Robert (Bob) Clinton Pepper Bob passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 21, 2007 in Sonoma at the age of 80. Bob resided in Mill Valley for over 45 years. A popular, successful artist, he was best known for his paintings of Marin and Yosemite. He was often quoted in Herb Caen's columns in the "SF Chronicle". An avid bicycle rider and hiker, he was often seen riding around Mill Valley. Among his many activities, he was a member of Big Brothers of Marin. Although Bob was never married, a loving family developed with his 30-year relationship as "Big Brother" to his "Little Brother", Rob Patterson. Bob was born in Detroit, MI, in 1926 and was a World War II veteran. He graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in Journalism. He is survived by his sister, Mrs. Dorothy White of Florida, his "Little Brother", Robert Patterson (Krisana) and children of Napa, California and Rob's mother, Patricia Patterson of Sonoma, California. Services Saturday, June 30, 2007 10:00 a.m. at the Tiburon Baptist Church, 445 Greenwood Beach Road, Tiburon, 94920. We send our sympathy to all of Bob's family.

We first met Bob when he had a showing of his art work in (Westlake) Daly City, CA - an art fair at the then new, Seramonte Mall. We commissioned Bob to create an oil painting for us. We told him what we wanted and he painted it! We first had our painting on display in our Westlake home in the mid 1960's. In 1971, we moved to Sausalito, where it looked grand. In 2006, we moved to Oregon to retire and Bob's painting, "Oak Harbor", is proudly displayed.

Bob was a talented artist. He captured nature with a "unique" flare. Thanks to Bob for all the years of enjoyment we have had looking at this lovely work of art.
