Clifford Fields Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 14, 2009.
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith .................... II Timothy 2:7 Father, Grandfather, Great-grandfather, Brother, Uncle, Nephew, Cousin & Friend Mr. Fields was born to Olun Fields and Elsie Jones Fields on Aug. 12, 1935, in Clayton, Texas in Panola County. He was the fourth child in a family of nine children. He was affectionately known as "Bubba." As a small child he moved with his family to Marshall, a small town in Harrison County near the Arkansas and Louisiana borders. He grew up in the Shady Grove Community as part of a close-knit hard working family. He confessed his belief in Christ and was baptized at an early age at Crossroads Baptist Church where he remained a member until his death. He united in Holy Matrimony with Delores Meek on July 9, 1955. This union was blessed with six children. He received his education in the public schools of Harrison County. He was employed with Tomlin-Weber Lumber Company as a truck driver for several years traveling across country and bringing back many fascinating stories to share with his family. He later worked for Fugler Builders Inc., where he honed his skills in the painting and construction trade. He later co-founded his own company Fields and Fields Painting & Construction which he jointly owned with his brother and sons. Known for his close attention to detail, he quickly mastered new techniques and many times was a trailblazer in the industry. He earned the respect and admiration of his professional peers and clients and was called on time and time again to add his signature finishing touch to any project. Clifford was known as a "sharp" dresser. Meticulous with his clothes, shoes, body, and hair, everything had to be together before he stepped outside of his door. Any vehicle he drove was always carefully detailed from the inside to the outside. Clifford was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his brother, Edward Donell Fields, and grandson, Ronald C. Fields Jr. In quiet peaceful dignity with loving family close by, God called Clifford home on Nov. 7, 2009, at Good Shepherd Medical Center-Longview. He went home to heaven on his "baby brother" Donell's birthday. What a wonderful celebration it was in Heaven. Clifford leaves to cherish his memories two daughters, Sandra Fields-Walker of Lewisville and Annette Fields-Taylor (Earl Claiborne) of Greenville; four sons, Clifford Fields Jr. of Reno, Nev., Michael Fields, Ronald Fields (Beverlyn) and Kevin Fields, all of Marshall; grandchildren, Corey Fields Sr., Tonisha Franklin, Ashley Fields, Tiffany Taylor, Brittoni Williams, Brandon Fields, Cameron Fields Sr. and Syndey Benton; great-grandsons, Corey Fields Jr. and Cameron Fields Jr.; A loving and devoted companion and friend, Gloria Mitchell-Harris of Forest Hills; one brother and best friend, Velvin Fields of Marshall; six sisters, Virtle Hadley, Mildred Hadley (Curtis) of Fort Worth, Merridene Fields and Doris Smith (Ernell) of Dallas, Earnestine Johnson of Marshall and Barbara Brown (Eddie) of Desoto; two aunts, Francis Fields of Marshall and Zephyr Jones of Terrell; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends whom he adored and loved. Funeral services for Clifford Cotel Fields Sr. will be noon Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009, at the Texas-Louisiana Building with the Rev. Wilburt Hall officiating. Burial will follow in Rosehill Garden Cemetery. Hayward-Stanmore Funeral Home

YOUR LOVING CHILDREN,

November 24, 2009

We did not know on Saturday (11/07/2009) that God was going to call your name. In life we loved you dearly, in death we do the same. It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone. For part of us went with you, the day God called you home. You left us peaceful memories, your love is still our guide: And though we cannot see you, you are always at our side. Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same but as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.

YOUR LOVING CHILDREN,
Sandra, Clifford Jr., Michael, Ronald, Annette, & Kevin

The day God called you home broke our hearts but we know that you were tired and were ready to go Home; so God looked around his garden and He found an empty place, And then He looked down upon the earth, and saw your tired face. He knew you were suffering, He knew you were in pain, He knew you would never get well on earth again. He saw the road was getting rough, and the hills we too hard for you to climb. You body was tired and weak so God
closed your weary eyelids, and whispered “Peace be thine.” So God called you home so that he could take care of you and heal you on the other side. As hard as is it is for us to see you go it gives us comfort to know that you are resting inpeace. We will always remember your kind loving spirit and how you loved each and every one of us. You left us peaceful memories, and although we cannot see you, the love and memories will forever live on. You are gone yet not
forgotten, although we are apart, your spirit will forever live within us and you will forever be in our hearts. Rest in peace Paw-Paw… As long as the sun shines… the wind blows… the rain falls… You will live inside of us forever and you will always be a part of us. Inside our hearts is where you will always stay. And we are not going to say good-bye, justmerely “see-you later and we love always and forever.”

Your Loving Grandchildren & Great-Grandchildren,

Corey Sr., Tonisha, Ashley, Tiffany, Brittoni, Brandon, Cameron Sr., Syndey, Corey Jr, & Cameron Jr.

To Kay and Fields family, I would like to send my condolences to all of you at this time in your lives. I recommend you keep your hands in God's hand for comfort because that is a peaceful and comforting place at a time like this. I am really glad the Lord allowed me to see Uncle Bubba one more time before he called him home. I believe Daddy and Uncle Bubba are having a great time together in that wonderful place called Heaven. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

May God continue to bless all of you,
Miranda Fields-Stroupe
