I may have been best man at Jim an Patricia's wedding but Jim has always been the best man. In 7th and 8th grade Sister Damien at Saint Mary s had Jim tutor me in spelling. Off to the hall we would go sitting on the top steps playing word games. The class Sister Damien was teaching Jim probably could have taught it. We did not goof off Jim kept with the task! It was a very special time with a man I respected admired and loved. My condolences go out to Pat and Allison you are in my thoughts. To the entire Binder family ! I lost a friend you lost a brother.

He was my favorite teacher when I attended CVTC in 1988. I love algebra to this day because of him.

Dearest Pat and Binder Family:
Our heartfelt condolences go out to you for the loss of your husband and family member! I will always remember your family stories, Pat, and especially of your fondness as you shared stories of your dancing partner. I am quite sure your love will always save his last dance for you - forever waiting until you join him one final time - only your dance then will be with him again, lasting forever! Our thoughts and prayers are with you always.

The obituary for Jim is a wonderful description of his life. Brother Jim touched so many lives during his life journey. This includes the many students he helped in and out of his classrooms during a 25-year teaching career at Eau Claire's CVTC. When I encountered some of my former students, after they went on to complete their post-secondary education at CVTC, they would speak highly of his teaching style & efforts. The property outside of Brackett, that Jim & Pat developed into a picturesque and remarkable home, will be a lasting legacy & memorial to Jim's talents as a “self-taught-do-it-selfer.” In the future, when we stop in to see Pat, Jim's spirit will always be among us! Pat, Allison, Jessewe share your sense of loss and you are in our thoughts.

We have seen Jim's talents reflected in your home, knew about his dancing days, and heard his wit and sense of humor firsthand. However, he had a rich history which we only learned about here. Our deepest condolences to the entire family and friends of this well-loved man.
