He was born in Albany Township, a son of the Late Warren and Beulah (Rausch) Kunkel. He was the former owner of Kunkel's Citi Service gas station, garage and used car sales, Coplay, Pa., for 23 years.
He served his country faithfully and honorably during WWII with the US. Army.
He is survived by two daughters, Carol A. Kunkel and Linda L., wife of Paul Tacker, both of Coplay; two sons,
Herman R. Kunkel and his wife, Kathleen, of Walnutport, with whom he last resided, and Harlan E. and his wife, Sandra, of Whitehall; a sister, Miriam B. Reichel, Kutztown; 9 grandchildren; 12 great-granchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by siblings: Clarence, Ellis, Clayton, George, Ivan and Howard Kunkel and Arlene Kistler.
His funeral service will be held on Monday, May 9, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. in the Robert S. Nester Funeral Home, 8405 Kings Highway, New Tripoli, PA 18066, with a calling hour beginning at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Scott L. Shay will officiate. Burial will be in Friedens Luth. Cemetery, Stony Run, Pa.
