Paul C. Fritz, 94 years, formerly of New Smithville died Wednesday, November 15 in Lehigh Center, Macungie. He was the husband of the late Miriam C. (Hartman) Fritz. Born in Weisenberg Twp., he was a son of the late Osville J. and Annie (Werley) Fritz. The Fritz family owned an automobile repair shop along old Route 22 in New Smithville. In 1930 they received a franchise for Ford and built a new building across the highway from the small repair shop. The dealership was run by Paul and his sister Lillian Stettler. During WWII the family added a Ford tractor and farm implement franchise. In 1980, the family received a 50-year service plaque from the Ford Motor Company. The family continued to sell used vehicles, repairs and service were the primary business until the garage was sold at auction in October of 1999. He was a member of Ziegels Lutheran Church where he was treasurer and served on council for many years. He was a Past Master of Lehigh Lodge #326 in Trexlertown. He was a member of Slatington Royal Arch Chapter #292, Allen Council Royal and Select Master Masons #29. Past Commander of Lodge Council Consistory Valley of Allentown, LehighTemple Assoc., Weisenberg-Lowhill Historical Society, Travelers Protective Assoc., Old Time Plow Boys Club, Inc. and Grundsow Lodge #1. Survivors: Son: Charles P. of Allentown; Daughters: Barbara E. Ritter of Maple Glen, and Elizabeth L. Meeker of Allentown; 5 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. Services: 11 AM Saturday, November 18, Ziegels Lutheran Church, 9990 Ziegels Church Rd., Breinigsville with the Rev. Mary Gade officiating. Call Saturday 10 to 11 AM in the Church.
