Walter B. Sterner
Walter B. Sterner, 89, of 1050 Main Street, Hellertown, died Tuesday, June 29, 2004 in his home. He was the husband of Verna A. (Weber) Sterner. The couple celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary last October 16th. Walter was an assistant manager of orders in the fabricated steel construction division of Bethlehem Steel Corp. for 40 years before retiring in 1976. Born in Bethlehem, he was a son of the late Edward L. and Cora A. (Seiple) Sterner. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, 69 Main Street, Hellertown, where he formerly served on the council. He was a member of Bethlehem Masonic Lodge 563, having received his 50-year member pin. He was a member of the Lehigh Consistory, Valley of Allentown, Dewy Fire Company, Hellertown, and a charter member of the former Bethlehem Steel Club. Survivors: Beloved wife, Verna A. (Weber) Sterner; sons, Daniel J. and his wife, Cynthia R. (Fluck) Sterner, of Hellertown, Donald W. and his wife, Stacy J. (Stocker) Sterner, of Macungie; sister, Kathryn SlicK of Bethlehem; 3 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren. Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday in the church. Call 9:30-10:30 a.m. Friday in the church. The Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., Hellertown, is in charge of arrangements. Contributions: Christ Lutheran Church building fund, 18055.
