Mr. Trump was my 5th grade teacher at Washington elementary in 1963. I am 72 now and I still have his obit pic on my phone. I tell people that Donald Trump was my 5th grade teacher. Always get a rise out of them. He honestly had a more positive impact on my life than my father. I still use his expression of "dollars to donuts" anytime I can as a tip of the cap to the real Donald Trump!

Mr. Donald Trump was my 5th AND 6th grade teacher at Shoemaker school. Whenever asked who´s my favorite teacher ( password question usually) the answer is always the same, Mr. Trump, Mr. Donald Trump.
When I tell people now or even over the last 40 plus years that I had a Teacher named Donald Trump, they think I´m kidding.
He was a wonderful teacher! He has had such an impact on my life. He really cared. He passionately cared! (hence, the chalk throwing) He had such Energy and Charisma.
I remember a play that we put on "Take me out to the Ballgame" I remember him being so proud of us. To this day, I know every word to that song.
I remember that he loved to tell stories and share his life experiences with us. I´ll never forget the day he told us all as a class that he had wonderful news and that not only were we moving forward to the sixth grade, but that he was also moving forward with us and would remain our teacher for another year. I´m not exactly sure why he did that. I´d like to think that he just wasn´t ready to let us go just yet. The years that I´m referring to I believe are 1970-1971
Rest in Peace Mr. Trump! You are Loved and you are revered

I substitute teach now that I have retired from my job. I keep Mr. Trump's obit photo in my phone. Can not tell you how many times I have said to my students that Donald Trump was my 5th grade teacher. After the shrieks die down, I show them the pic of, to me, who is the real Donald Trump in my life. I also tell them that he was a great man and the most influential adult male in my life growing up. All true! Jeff Metz, Hamburg, PA

Mr. Trump was a great 6th grade teacher. I wrote the first of many research papers that year. I knew him to be a proud veteran and a very caring teacher.

My life was changed my last day of 5th grade; so I thought……
As I opened my report card and the letter stating who I was going to have for my 6th grade teacher, the following year, my little hands trembled and a tears fell down my face as I read the name; Mr. Donald Trump. My mind raced with thoughts fear for the rumors that circled through the school pods… The push-ups! The chalk throwing! The solider standing! …..what was I going to do? How was I going to survive?
Summer came and went, the fastest summer on record, from what I remember…and then the day was here, my first day of 6th grade …….. I was 12 years old in 1989 when I entered Mr. Trump's classroom at Shoemaker Elementary....I was a scared little girl, walking into a room with a scary, stone faced man.
My life changed my first day of 6th grade…
Mr. Trump was all the rumors that you heard plus much much more….
I can recollect many scenarios in my mind of what I remember that year, for it has traveled with me through my whole life. I could fill pages and pages of events and memories, but without one being blessed to share them, some may not understand. I will share what some would remember the most from sharing them with me that year…
• There was chalk throwing…Fortunately for me, I was never a target.
• There were push-ups…Had done 10 of them once, from there on out, I made sure to do my homework.
• Solider standing…We all had done that! I think that happened on a daily… I did learn to stand with my hands at my side, w/o being tired, for hours!!!
• There was A LOT, A LOT, A LOT of extra gym classes...Hence the reason for below:
Volleyball- TRUMPS TARSEARS! ...
I designed the team shirt,
Girls- 1st place and Boys-LAST! Guess they needed more extra gym. LOL!
• There were smiles, laughter, frowns and tears.
• We were taught street and book smarts.
• But most importantly- there was talk about God!
Sometimes you are blessed enough to meet someone in your life shows you and teaches you things that you will carry with you for the rest of your life. Good work ethic, the respect for your elders and others, genuine kindness, and the love of God, never realizing how much profound effect it would have in your heart. It touches your soul in a very special way. That's the kind of impact Mr. Trump had imbued in my life and my senses.
I was one of the fortunate people that god chose to meet Mr. Trump and I will be forever grateful. I was sad to hear of his passing, he will be truly missed for I am sure he touched the lives of many others. When asked the question; “Who was your favorite teacher?” It will always remain the same, “Mr. Trump!”

I am saddened to hear the news of Mr. Trump. He was my 5th grade teacher and was one of the most influential people in my life. He didn't teach just reading, math, etc. he taught us how to be better people. I kept in touch with Mr. Trump long after 5th grade and hold his memory close to my heart. He was an awesome man, and although I only saw him occassionally, he will be sadly missed. My thoughts and prayers to his family.

Dear Trump Family: Your father had a huge impact on my life as he was my 5th grade teacher at Washington School. He was both kind and strict at the same time. How many times did I hear him say "dollars to donuts" when making a comparison while teaching? Whenever he would run into my mother he used to tell her what day I was born. He was an inspiration to me and I hope you peace in his passing. Jeff Metz
