Christine Hodgins

Christine Anita Hodgins, born C. Marent Dec. 13, 1960 - Aug. 21, 2012 Resident of Sacramento, CA Christine, born in Palo Alto, CA, was a devoted and loving mother to her son Peter and wife to her husband Alec. She is also survived by her parents, Ludwig and Emily Marent of Redwood City, her sister Petra, her nephew Philip and niece Sabina. Christine bravely succumbed to a second occurrence of cancer surrounded by the love of her family and intimate friends. She was an important member of the Sacramento Art Community, showing in Galleries such as the Art Foundry, The Temporary Contemporary, and most recently the Morris Graves Museum in Eureka. She devoted herself to drawing, painting, printmaking and large-scale sculptures. Christine graduated from San Carlos High School in 1979. She received diplomas in German from both from the German School of the Mid Peninsula and the Goethe Institute in San Francisco. After she graduated from CSUS studying foreign languages, she spent her honeymoon year teaching English in Nanjing, China. Upon her return, she taught English as a second language courses for 20 years at the Sacramento Fremont School for Adults. She was a world traveler and a lover of foreign cultures and traveled extensively with her family. Christine will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered for her compassion, intelligence, unique humor, loving spirit and joyful heart. Her passing will be deeply felt by her family and friends and throughout many communities. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass held at 11 am, Saturday, September 15, 2012 at St. Matthias Catholic Church, 1685 Cordilleras Road, Redwood City.
