Glen Bollenbacher Obituary

Glen Bollenbacher
July 3, 1938-December 29, 2017
Santa Clara
Glen passed away on December 29, 2017 in San Francisco at the age of 79 surrounded by family. He was the first of two sons born on July 3, 1938. Imagine the surprise on the faces of his parents Seldon C. and Orpha (Thomas) Bollenbacher when they found out that day they were having identical twins. He and his brother were mischievous boys and found many ways to frustrate and entertain their parents during their formative years.
While still in High School, Glen and his brother joined the National Guard, at the very strong urging of their father, Seldon, in 1954 and served until 1962. He attended San Jose Technical High School and Jr. College choosing the profession of Plumber. He was a member of UA Local 393 and was dispatched to his first job at Ray L. Hellwig Plumbing on February 5, 1956 with a starting wage of $1.47 an hour. He spent his entire career with the shop and later became Ray Hellwig's partner in the company. Glen was also an influential force behind the development of Local 393 Pipe Trades Training Center and was on the JATC Board for numerous years. In January 1991, Glen and Mr. Hellwig decided to expand their company along with their partners Eldon Shreve and Lonnie Michaels and founded Hellwig Mechanical.
Glen spent his entire life in Santa Clara County. He had a passion for car racing, going to the lake, and spending time with the boys at the American Legion Hall.
He is survived by his son Chad (Tonya), granddaughters Brittany "The Princess" and Ashley "His Image", brother Harold (Sherry) and longtime companion Betty O'Brian.
He is predeceased by son Lance, daughter Stacy, and wife Bobbie Jo.
There will be no funeral service for Glen as he was adamant about not having one. However, there were instructions left to have "One Hell of a Party" so come hungry, come thirsty and join his family in celebrating the legacy he left behind. Join us on Friday, February 16, 2018 around 5:00 p.m. at The American Legion Hall #419 958 Homestead Road, Santa Clara
