Teklu A. Desta
Resident of San Jose
Teklu Abere Desta (87 years old) of San Jose, CA passed on January 14, 2018 in his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on March 30, 1930 in Holeta, Ethiopia and earned his degree in Teaching from Addis Ababa University. Mr. Teklu served as an educator and principal for over 35 years in Addis Ababa. He married his wife Tirunesh Belay Shibeshi on April 24, 1955, and together they raised seven children. He immigrated to San Jose, CA with his wife in 2004 in order to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Upon his arrival, he marveled at the freedoms and opportunities found here in the United States and became a citizen in 2010. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed attending church service, acquiring knowledge and spending time with his kids and grandkids. His funeral service was held on January 20, 2018 at Oak Hill Memorial Park. He is survived by his wife Tirunesh, his five children and his nine grandchildren.

I thank God that He blessed us with your presence for this long. You got to see so much of my accomplishment and you were there to provide me with words of wisdom and love when I needed it the most. I know we are all feeling sad,that we've lost our Grandpa, our friend and our father.
But Abaye would want us to know he's in a good place and that he's watching us all with a smile on his face,As we have made him so proud, as proud as can be that he has raised such a beautiful and special family.
Thinking back now I really must say
I feel lucky and privileged to have known Aba to this day.For in my life, you have played a special part.The memories I will treasure and keep close to my heart.

What a privilege and a blessing to have had a father like you. I would not have been a doctor if you hadn't dreamed of it and I am so grateful for it. The love you had for each of us and instilled in us kept our family very close and became a guiding principle for how we each raised our children.
