Dorothy Wells Lee, 91, died unexpectedly on Monday, April 10, 2017 after being stricken at her residence on Palm Sunday. She was born in Medford on May 14, 1925 the daughter of the late Walter A. Wells and Eva C. (Closson) Wells. Dot was the beloved wife for 68 years of the late Edward D. Ed Lee, Sr. who died on August 8, 2016. She was the beloved and devoted mother of Pamela A. Frey of Mound Ridge, Kansas; Edward D. Ted Lee, Jr. and his wife Charlie of Ashland, Virginia D. Ginger Livingstone and her husband Greg of Wayland and the late James H. Lee who died on March 5, 2013. Cherished grandmother of Jeremy, Kenneth and his wife Roz, Matthew, Jennifer, Benjamin, Jessica and Evan. Also survived by three great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and her grandpaws Emalee, Mish and Buffy. Mother-in-law of the late William O. Frey who died on June 30, 2012. She was the sister of the late Pearl Wells, Dora Lamotte, Cora Dame and Frances Harrington. Dot spent her earlier years in North Natick and moved to Cochituate with her family at a young age. She graduated from Wayland High School with the Class of 1943 and was a member of the cheerleading squad at the high school. During World War II, Dot proudly served with the Mass Womens Defense Corp. She retired in 1987 as the head teller with the Shawmut Bank of Boston in Framingham. Dot loved to travel to Maine with her husband Ed especially Ellsworth where her parents grew up and to Acadia National Park. They enjoyed visiting lighthouses, her favorite being Pemaquid Point Light. She loved to read, was an accomplished cook and baker and everyone remembers her for her wonderful apple and lemon meringue pies. She was a member of the Wayland Senior Citizens and served as treasurer and for over 20 years, she served as an election worker for the Town of Wayland at Precinct 2. Dot was a life member of the Community United Methodist Church and was very active with the affairs of the church. She served on the finance committee and was a former member of the Board of Trustees. Dot also enjoyed her many commitments and involvement with the Community United Methodist Women. She enjoyed researching her family genealogy and sharing it with her children and grandchildren. The most important aspect of Dots life was the love and devotion that she had for her family and her support and encouragement to her many friends. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to everyone she knew. Dot will be fondly remembered and loved by all the lives that she touched in her 91 years and the deep commitment she had for her Christian faith. Visitations will be held on Friday, April 14, 2017 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (Off Rte. 30), Cochituate Village, Wayland.
