FLETCHER - Janet O. Duer, age 89, of Fletcher passed away on Saturday, May 22, 2021 in Hearth and Home of Urbana. Born on January 11, 1932 in Miami County, OH, she was a daughter of the late Ward and Mildred (Offenbacher) Prince.
She married Stanley Duer on September 12, 1953 and he preceded her in death on January 4, 2007. Together they raised four children, three of whom survive: G. Wesley Duer of St. Paris, Kimberly (Rick Gibellino) Heintz of Troy, and Krista Thompson of Troy.
Mrs. Duer was a loving grandmother to six grandchildren: Mathew Duer, Brian Duer, Angela (Mike) Marion, Tyler (Amber Durst) Thompson, Brittney (Ben) Malott, and Zach (Michelle) Thompson. She was especially fond of her seven great grandchildren: Corey, Bradley, Ian, and Preston Marion, and Ella, Tucker, and Cannon Wesley Malott. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son Kurtis, her first husband, Robert L. Davis in 1951, and brother, Richard Prince.
Mrs. Duer was a 1949 graduate of Brown Local High School and attended Bowling Green State University. She retired in 1997 from Teeters Products after serving there for 27 years. Mrs. Duer devoted her life to her church and family. She was a lifetime member of the Lena Baptist Church where she served in many capacities and participated in American Baptist Women Ministry. She was a member of the Miami County Gideon Auxiliary. She served as a 4-H Advisor for the Brown Township Trail Blazers. She enjoyed gardening, canning, and baking and was a superb cook. She loved to scrapbook and made scrapbooks for every member of her family.
The Duer family would like to express their appreciation and gratitude to all of her caregivers during the last three years.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 28, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. in Lena Baptist Church, Lena, Ohio with church Pastor Ed Sollenberger and Grafton UMC Pastor Mark Atterholt co-officiating. Burial will follow in Fletcher Cemetery, Fletcher, OH.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, May 27, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Suber-Shively Funeral Home, 201 W. Main Street, Fletcher, Ohio.
Memorial donations may be made to Lena Baptist Church, P.O. Box 368, Conover, Ohio 45371.

Janet was my mom, Lois Deaton's best friend. I remember get togethers with our families when we were young kids. I especially remember all the Mother's Day programs she organized and executed to perfection with her ability of speech. Like all the parents before us she will be missed, but always remembered in our mind and hearts.
