Marilyn Deotte Obituary

Deotte, Marilyn Norma (Jodoin)
Mrs. Marilyn Norma (Jodoin) Deotte, born on April 30, 1932 in Putnam, Connecticut, passed away at age 86 on July 12, 2018 in Middletown, Connecticut. She graduated from Putnam High School in 1950. Marilyn was the loving wife of the late Raymond Deotte. She was preceded in death by her sister, Linda Motrucinski. Marilyn is survived by her daughters, Penelope Deotte and Christine Deotte; grandchild, Rebecca Deotte, Rebecca's partner William; and great-grandchildren, Haley Peacock and Isla Peacock. She also leaves behind her beloved cat, Baby Face. Marilyn was an avid reader and instilled the love of books in her children and grandchildren. Starting with her first job as a proofreader at the Putnam Patriot, Marilyn had an appreciation of newspapers; she read at least one from cover to cover every day. Many people will remember her as the cashier in the Middlesex Hospital Cafeteria where she worked for 32 years before retiring in 1993. In 1994, she retired to the west coast of Florida with her husband until his passing in 2016. For the past two years, she has been living back in Middletown with her family. Marilyn had a big heart and a charitable nature. She loved animals, her many pets and wildlife as well. She was also a supporter of organizations that worked to alleviate childhood hunger. Please consider making a contribution to the Meriden Humane Society, https://www.meridenhumanesocietyrescue.com/, or the Amazing Grace Food Pantry http://www.svdmiddletown.org/food-pantry/ to honor her memory.
