I've listened to John Prine's "Hello In There" countless times times over the decades, but it's had a new meaning these past 2 years. If you've listened to the song, then you know where Kevin came from - a place of heart, empathy, and compassion.

I think of my good friend Kevin, on most days, and he often appears in my dreams on a nightly basis, always the way that I remember him; big as life, and with a smile on his face. The dreams always include his high school gang of close friends; Dave McMurray, Pres Ruddell, Bob Lynch (deceased 2013), George Neale, Skip Griffin and myself. Hardlly a day goes by that I don't see on television an old famous character actor that was on Kevin and his brother, Neal's, character actor list. Kevin was an extraordinary human being, and will be forever in our hearts, and forever missed. Glenn Merkel

I met Kevin in 1964 on the basketball court after my family moved to Needham from North Carolina, played on many teams together at NHS - he was an outstanding basketball, baseball and football player in high school, going on to become an all-conference lacrosse player in college - and became good friends, but after graduation went separate ways. In 1987 Glenn Merkel got our group together again, and we began an annual tradition of gathering in Wellfleet for a weekend reunion every year, later expanded to include summer golf outings. Kevin was our heart. He had an extraordinary capacity for love and passion for life. I was especially touched by the way he would focus on each of us during those gatherings, giving us his full attention and sharing himself fully. His joke-telling was nonparallel, as was his wit. He had a lifelong curiosity about many subjects, including old westerns, 19th century western history (he was an expert on the 7th Calvary & Custer, for instance), sports (his knowledge of football was encyclopedic) and was always a student of humanity, deeply appreciating others while, ever the coach, encouraging their better natures and best efforts. Knowing Kevin has made me a better man. I'm sure he had that effect on everyone he met. Like so many others, I loved him and miss him very much. My best to Gwen and his family.

It's that twinkle in his eye, the smile on his face, the sincere excitement in his voice, when he greeted us or when he was talking about something he was into - and he had so many interests - those are some of what I miss about KC. But, really, I can see and hear him now - he's easily brought into my mind's eye. I'm reading a book now that he recommended. I feel he's around, as I turn the pages. Love to Gwen, Brian, Jeff, Chris, and Jeanne - Pr

I consider myself to be very lucky to have been Kevin's friend for almost 60 years. His storytelling and his wit were unmatched. He was a great family man and I trusted his judgement on just about everything. A great human being that I loved and will greatly miss.

December 27, 2019. Kevin and I first met in 1959 in grade school basketball. By the time that we graduated from Needham High School in 1967, we were to be life long friends. A humble man who chose his words carefully, I still consider his acceptance speech the night of the Medway High School gymnasium in his name, as one of the best speeches that I had ever heard. I sat with his six close high school friends and teammates that night, and the speech moved more than one of us to tears. The 7 of us continued to meet annually, and spend 4 wonderful days together at the Cape. I have so many wonderful memories of all the time that I spent with Kevin. I will remember always his love of his family. his smile, his low chuckle when something tickled him, his love of everything history, our back and forth on emails discussing old western movies showing on Turner Classic Movies. Kevin will remain in my life, one of the nicest human beings that I ever met. Glenn Merkel

I first met Kevin (KC) in 5th grade in 1959 when the Harris School basketball team played Mitchell School. In 1962 we joined ranks on the Pollard Jr. High basketball team, and became fast friends for the next 57 years. From 1987 until this past October, Kevin and I and 5 of our other Needham High School friends and teammates traveled to Cape Cod to spend four wonderful days together. I will never forget how Kevin was there for me when I was recovering from a stroke that at the time paralyzed the left side of my body. His encouragement helped push me towards what the doctors described as a miraculous recovery. Kevin was a humble man who when he spoke often times spoke great words. To this day, I still consider the acceptance speech that he gave the night of the Medway gymnasium dedication in his name, as the greatest speech that I had ever heard, and it brought me to tears. I will miss everything about KC; his smile, low chuckle when something tickled him, and our back and forth through emails over old movies being shown on Turner Classic Movies, and hundreds of other memories. The day that our gang parted company last October 7th, we usually give each other a hug, but this time, as KC and I said goodbye, we embraced strongly, and both began to sob. It was sadly to be our last moment together. To put it in perspective, Kevin Clark is one of the best human beings that I ever met. Rest well my good friend. Glenn Merkel

I just wanted to express my deepest sympathy to Kevin's entire family.
I met The Clark and Friswell's after their brother Neal passed away in Hancock NH in January 2018. What a kind and loving family. Kevin was so passionate about honoring his brother's life and keeping his memory alive. He was so gracious, thoughtful, intelligent and loving. A truly remarkable man whom I feel privileged to have met.
A tremendous loss.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I am stunned to learn of Kevin's leaving this earth. I worked in Medway with Kevin and Gwen for many years. Kevin was always first class in whatever he said or did. He was a great role model for kids and had a positive impact on thousands of students and athletes. On occasion I'd be in the vicinity of one of his phys ed classes and would think, "Why couldn't I have had a gym teacher like that?" Kevin was a good guy in every respect, and we were all very fortunate to have had him in our lives. Gwen, you and your faimily have my deepest sympathy.

When I saw Kevin was the referee for Metro West basketball games, I knew I would get honest, consistent calls. Surely, honesty and consistency was part of his whole life

Kevin was a kind and giving man. Gwen and Kevin were an awesome team. I remember when my husband was battling cancer. Gwen kept bugging me, offering to help and I kept refusing. Finally on a Tuesday morning, I told her that I didn't know how to operate Lester's lawn mower. Gwen told me that she'll get it covered. In my mind, someone would stop by within a few days to mow the lawn. Instead, my doorbell rang 15 minutes later... Kevin was standing there with a smile on his face saying "I'm here to mow your lawn." This memory still brings tears to my eyes. Rest my gentle friend, you brought joy and happiness to many. We will always miss you! Our thoughts and prayers are with Gwen and the entire Clark family.

Kevin and I coached football together at Medway High School in the 1970's. He succeeded me as the head football coach and then as the Athletic Director when I left in 1981. We shared many, many great times together. He was a class act that I was proud to call my friend. My deepest condolences to Gwen and the Clark family.

My deepest condolences to Gwen and the entire Clark family. I remember Kevin during our high school years at NHS. He was a force on our Basketball team! Shy, but always had a smile and kind word for everyone. I remember Neal as well, who was in my class. Bothers gone to soon.

Kevin (Coach Clark) was an amazing role model, friend, and mentor to me and so many other young men fortunate enough to play football under him at Franklin High. His kindness and incredible ability to motivate excellence in people, whether on the field or academically, are a testament to how great a man he was. He had such a major, positive impact on my life and I know he will be greatly missed by all. My deepest sympathy to the Clark family.

Kevin was a nice guy, he would let me use the weight room at the high school, though it was off limits to residents, during adult volleyball. I feel fortunate to have know him, sadly he left us way too soon..

Kevin is, and will always be, such a profoundly lovely man. I am so grateful to have shared moments (much too brief) with him; though we shared a common grief, our stronger bond, I believe, is that we shared a common Hope. Kevin exuded warmth, grace, love, gratitude; and his love for Gwen, and their lovely family, was as obvious as Life itself. (My core regret is that I did not know him better.)
My heart breaks for all who have lost this dear soul. His recently found friends here in Hancock, NH, so blessed by his cheerful and grateful heart, will always be honored to have met him. Gratitude for his gift - his gentle presence with us - will be our comfort; our glad memory.
May the peace of the Lord be always with you. Love to you all.
