DR. TAMRA SUE BUSICK
Dr. Tamra "Tammy" Sue Busick, 65, passed away surrounded by her loved ones on Friday, May 9, 2025. Born on November 14, 1959, she was the cherished daughter of John Joseph Jedlicka Jr. and Sharon Eudeen (Miller) Jedlicka.
Tammy graduated from South Shelby High School in 1978 and went on to lead a life defined by service, scholarship, and unwavering compassion.
Tammy was the proud and loving mother of three children: Philip John Busick, born July 10, 1987; John Michael Turnbaugh, born March 2, 1999; and Sarah Elizabeth Turnbaugh, born October 3, 2000.
Tammy's academic and professional accomplishments were a testament to her lifelong pursuit of knowledge and excellence. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from the University of Missouri in 1982, graduating Cum Laude and as a member of ROTC. Following her graduation, she served in the United States Air Force as a Clinical Nurse, continuing her deep commitment to care and service to the country.
In 1989, Tammy completed a Master of Science in Health Services Administration at Columbus University, graduating Summa Cum Laude. She went on to earn her Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from the University of Health Sciences in Kansas City in 2003, graduating Magna Cum Laude. Throughout her medical education, she received numerous achievement awards, completed her internship and residency with distinction, and served as Chief Resident.
Tammy became a Board-Certified Anesthesiologist in 2008. She spent the majority of her medical career serving Veterans as an Anesthesiologist at the VA Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.
She also owned her own Anesthesiology practice and served as an Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology at the University of Missouri for three years. Tammy was a member of the American Medical Association, Missouri Society of Anesthesiologists, American Society of Anesthesiologists, and Sigma Sigma Phi.
Her dedication to medicine was matched by her vibrant personal life. Tammy was an avid runner who completed multiple half marathons. She loved books, and travel, and recently enjoyed a month-long European trip through Italy and Sicily. A talented knitter and cross-stitcher, she created
beautiful handmade baby blankets and jackets that became treasured keepsakes for nieces, nephews, and their children.
Tammy's philanthropic spirit was evident in her support for local organizations, particularly True North Women's Shelter for domestic violence survivorsa cause close to her heart.
Tammy was preceded in death by her father, John Joseph Jedlicka Jr., in 2013.
She is survived by her children, Philip John Busick, John Michael Turnbaugh, and Sarah Elizabeth Turnbaugh; her mother, Sharon Jedlicka; and her siblings: Theresa "Terri" Marie Hines and husband Kenny, John Joseph Jedlicka III and wife Tiffany, and Richard Lee Jedlicka and wife Stephanie. She is also survived by her beloved nieces and nephews: Johnathan Hines and wife Jenna, Emily Kaiser and husband Adam, Kelli Hines, and partner Conner, John "Jack" Joseph Jedlicka IV and wife Olivia, Joseph Dean "JD" Jedlicka, Adam Jedlicka, Brayden Prough and wife Jill, Kaleb Prough and wife Lindsey, and Maddie Long and husband Zane. Great nieces and nephews include Etta Kaiser, John "Jay" Joseph Jedlicka V, Scottie Hines, June e Prough, Ridge Long, Beau Prough, Wynn Prough, Goldie Prough, and Ford Prough.
Tammy's legacy of service, kindness, and love lives on in all who were blessed to know her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A celebration of life will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at Parker-Millard Funeral Service & Crematory with a visitation being held from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
