Everette Durbin Obituary

EVERETTE DURBIN, SR. Everette Durbin, Sr., passed away on Tuesday, September 9th, with family by his side. He was 88 years old. Everett was born on June 23rd, 1937, in Goss, Missouri, to Sadie Katherine (Skeen) and Robert Gilmore Durbin. He was the youngest of five siblings: Gerald, Margret, Betty, and Bill. Everett was the definition of hardworking. From an early age, he helped on the family farm in Paris until he ultimately owned his own farm. Everett became well-known in the livestock and agriculture community until he joined the Army in his early 20s. After completing his Army overseas tour, Everett returned to farming and began his career working at the Banquet Foods factory in Moberly. He dedicated over three decades serving in a variety of roles, one of the most memorable being in the pie line, where he met Judith Ann Thornhill. Judy and Everett married on February 10th, 1984, in Macon. On any given weekend, you could find them at a local auction, collecting treasures and building an impressive collection of old oak furniture, depression era glassware, and cast-iron skillets. They shared 25 years together before Judy's passing in September 2009, almost 16 years ago to the day he passed. Everett is survived by his children Brian (Angela) Durbin, R. Cecil (Jeannette) Durbin, Jennifer (Jerry) Deck, Eugene Durbin, and Kathy (Jim) Thornton. Everett was an amazing Papa and Grandpa to his grandchildren, Matt (Natalie), Phillip (Amanda), Brittney (Zach), Nickole (José), Ryan, Isabell, Anthony, Hailey, James (Cara), Chris, and Michelle (Richie). Emma, Adelynn, Keaten, Oliver, Verdell, Molly Ann, Ian, Grant, and Thea will dearly miss their Great Papa. His Renick neighbor and close friend, Lisa, remains, along with many other family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Friday, September 12th, at Agnew Funeral Home in Paris, MO Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Walnut Grove Cemetery in Paris. Memorials may be made to the Mexico Veterans Home Assistance League in honor of Everett.
