Michael Bathgate Obituary
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Rupp Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Rev. Roy Southerland, pastor of Monroe Missionary Baptist church, will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Paul Lutheran cemetery, Monroe.
Michael was born November 8, 1979 in Monroe. He was the son of Gary E. and Dolores O. (Pfund) Bathgate.
He was a heavy equipment operator at Sibley Quarry.
Michael was a 1997 graduate of Monroe High School.
He loved sports. He played softball, basketball and flag football on various recreation leagues. When he couldn't be playing sports he watched them on TV with football being his favorite. His favorite sports teams were the New England Patriots, San Francisco 49ers and Detroit Tigers.
Michael could get along with anyone and everyone he met was a new friend.
He is survived by his grandmother, Viola Bathgate of S. Rockwood; aunts and uncles, Barbara (Ron) Meyer of LaSalle, Mary Ellen (Gary) Gerweck of Monroe, Janice Borrusch of Monroe, Jenise (Marvin) Miller of Monroe, Lloyd (Roxanne) Pfund of Monroe, Richard (Cindy) Bathgate of Maybee and Karen (Frank) Uhlik of S. Rockwood, several cousins, numerous friends and his constant companion of the last several years, his dog Brady.
He is preceded in death by his father Gary November 10, 2016; his mother Dolores January 1, 2009, grandparents, Harold "Mike" Bathgate, Dorothy Ball and Lloyd Pfund and a cousin, Dale Meyer.
Memorial contributions may be made to Humane Society of Monroe County, Barbara A. Karmanos Cancer Center or American Cancer Society.

I found out you passed away today, I can't believe it. I wish we would've stayed in closer contact, my girls loved Bman as they grew up, my oldest once asked him what it was like to be big like a tree and he laughed and picked up to show her. We used to talk every morning in our early 20's he at work and I on my way to school he called it his counseling sessions. Every time I make fajitas I think of you and then I would check to see if you had FB. To be a friend of Big Daddy was to never feel alone, he will always B our Big Friendly Giant, me and the girls love you and miss you and always will. Mel
