Susan Lentz Obituary

Susan Lentz. June 18, 1950 - January 10, 2006. SALINAS - Susan Lentz, age 55, passed away at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital on January 10 holding the hands of her husband and friends. She is survived by her husband Jerry of 23 years, her twin sister Diane, her sister Vivian and brother James. As a twenty year math teacher at North Salinas High and then Salinas high, her love for children survives in hundreds of students to whom she taught algebra and geometry. She also made a difference in many student's lives through the Avid program. Susan earned her math degree 41 Austin by working her way through school as a telephone operator. She sold furniture in El Paso, Texas, and after marriage in 1981, earned a teaching certificate before coming with her husband and dog to the Monterey Peninsula in 1985. Susan had a smile that no one could forget and a personality that endeared her to many lifelong friends. Her strength, intelligence, and courage carried her through battles with breast cancer, congestive heart failure, and finally a stroke. Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday Jan. 14 at St. Timothy Lutheran Church. Directed by Struve & Laporte. www.struveandlaporte.com
