Mary Louise "Lu" Jeter

Mary Jeter Obituary

Jeter, Mary Louise "Lu"

The art of keeping a family together takes all the tenacity of a seasoned ringmaster. For Mary Louise Jeter, "Lu" to everyone who knew her, it came effortlessly. Her cherished gardens were neatly tended. Her home-cooked meals were prepared just right. Her child, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were affectionately comforted. Family and friends were always the priority. Following a lifetime of uncommon compassion, Lu died on July 27, peacefully, where she always wished to be, at home, age 91.

Lu was predeceased by her husband and best friend, Manning T. Jeter Jr., with whom she couldn't imagine life without. Always united by common goals, she supplied the inspiration and he provided the steadfastness.

Lu is survived by an extraordinary legacy of offspring, who she coined her Little Black Crows: Lee Ann Holloway, her granddaughter, and her sons Vincent "Ways" and Gage Holloway, along with their father, Jeffrey Holloway of Montgomery, AL; Manning Thomas Jeter IV, her grandson, his wife, Gracemarie Sax Jeter, and their four daughters, Alexis, Emma, Erin and Aileen, of Severna Park, MD; Cheree Blackburn Jeter, her daughter-in-law, of Thomasville, GA; Manning Thomas Jeter III, her son, and his wife, Rebecca Windham Jeter, of Columbus, GA. Lu will also be greatly missed by her kin, The Loard Family.

After eleven years a widow, Lu has reunited with her much-loved husband. May she rest in peace, quietly enjoying her favorite views of the high-peaked mountains and silver-blue lakes.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Montgomery Humane Society, 1150 John Overton Drive, Montgomery, AL 36110 or a charity of your choosing.
