Edith,Stephen and Michael, our thoughts are with you and your families.
I have very fond memories of visiting with you at a very young age. I loved to listen to Cousin Mel play the piano when he came home from work. He inspires me when I play. In later years , his sense of humour added to my delight. He was such a nice person and an inspiration to so many.

I was saddened to hear of Mel's passing and offer my sincere condolences to everyone close to him. I had grown up knowing he was part of my extended family and always wanted to meet him, hear some of his stories, and connect with the roots of comedy so firmly planted by his generation. I regret that I never had the chance to do that -- but his work has crafted a legacy that will keep 'em laughing forever.

Mel and my sister married when I was a teenage person and treated me to the best 16th birthday present in New York... every play on Broadway and a few operas at the Met. He and she have always been wonderful to me. Estelle Schecter
