Baila MARKUS Obituary
June 7, 1924 - February 22, 2013
Passed away peacefully on February 22, 2013. Born in Montreal to Morris and Rae Godel. Loving mother to Mitchell, Douglass and Louise Markus, beloved grandmother to Tara, Shyam, Jai, Rachel, Noah and Jordan and matriarch of an extended family that included her late ex-husband Edmund (Das) Markus and his second family: his wife Jill and two sons David and Sam. Loving sister to Anita Enchin and cherished aunt to her children. In her career as a forensic social worker she worked at various social service organizations, above all the McGill Clinic in Forensic Psychiatry under the direction of eminent psychiatrist, Dr. Bruno Cormier. Baila's sense of humanity extended beyond her working life as the therapy she freely gave to all was profound and helpful. Her adventuresome spirit led her on many journeys, in particular India where at 60 years old she traveled with her son Mitchell. Her sense of style, humour and uncompromising honesty made her a role model for many.
