VERMILION - Michael A. Reighley, 62 years of age, and a resident of Vermilion, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2012 following a auto accident.
Mike was born on February 10, 1950, in Oberlin. He was raised in Oberlin with his five brothers and graduated from Oberlin High School with the class of 1968. He was a fierce wrestling competitor and part of the first wrestling team established at Oberlin High School. He was a 4H member and participated at the Lorain County Fair where his steer won Grand Champion.
Mike made his home in Vermilion for the last twenty five years. He was a loyal person, a loving husband, a caring father and grandfather, as well as a selfless friend. He was a business owner and entrepreneur with a strong work ethic. He was a car enthusiast and perfectionist who enjoyed restoring classic cars.
Survivors include his wife of nine years Tracy Rae Reighley (nee: Polley); his parents George and Joan Reighley (nee: Hainstock) of Tempe, Arizona; sons Doug Reighley of Ft. Meyers, Florida, Michael Reighley and his wife Jennifer of Fairview Park, Paul Reighley of Sheffield Township; daughters Halle Reighley of Avon; Wendy Reighley of Lorain; Erika Collins and her husband Jason of Vermilion, Rachel Kayatin and her husband Louis of Avon Lake; and Rebekah Reighley of Wakeman and eight grandchildren; his brothers Bill and Linda (Zbydnowski) Reighley of Elyria, Rick and Cindy Reighley of Wellington, Jim and Twila Reighley of E. Lansing, Michigan, Tom and Michele Reighley of Elyria and John and Susan Reighley of Tempe, Arizona along with nine nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Sunday, February 19, 2012 from 3-7 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 20, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Louis Kayatin, pastor of Church on the North Coast will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove cemetery, Vermilion, Ohio.

Mike and I were very close when we were in high school, even though I was one of "those Firelands girls." I was in horse 4-H when he had his steer in 4-H and I helped him get him ready for the show ring. He was a great friend and always so much fun. I know that all of you will miss him terribly. I cannot imagine that he is no longer on this earth.

Mike was one of my favorite people in the whole world. We loved gossiping when he came in to our offices. He loved complaining about the government when we made him file tax stuff! He was also the most selfless person I knew. On the day I found out he died I had just told my husband I needed to call Mike to help me switch a title. He NEVER failed to help when it was needed. We will miss him so much. We are praying for you all every day.
