Lee Ann Thompson

South Plainfield - Lee Ann Stanford Thompson, 64, died Monday, December 31, 2018 at RWJ Univ. Hospital Somerset in Somerville with her loving family by her side. She was born in Lynn, MA, and had resided in South Plainfield for 44 years.

Lee Ann was a Registered Nurse and had worked for the South Plainfield Board of Education for 12 years, retiring in 2017. She had previously worked for many years at several Central Jersey hospitals. Lee Ann was a graduate of Union County College and Muhlenberg School of Nursing class of 1975, a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church in Dunellen where she served in many helpful and meaningful ways, and a lifelong advocate for people with special needs.

She was the daughter of Ann Lee Stanford and the late Walter Stanford. She was sister to Elizabeth Normann, Mark Standford, and the late Stephen Stanford. She is survived by her husband, Ray Thompson, three daughters, Rachel Schleich (Dave), Sarah Seiz (Steven), and Jessica Thompson; a son, Ryan Thompson, as well six grandchildren, Christiana, Alyssa, Layla, Cassandra, Lilo and Rebekah.

Lee Ann's life was characterized by a deep commitment to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, love for her family, deep bonds of friendship, and a selfless care and concern for others.

A Memorial Service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, 218 Dunellen Avenue, Dunellen on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 12 noon. Friends may visit the family on Saturday from 10AM until the time of the service at the church. Immediately following the service there will be a repass at the church. Cremation will be held privately. Arrangements are in the care of The Mundy Funeral Home, 142 Dunellen Ave., Dunellen. For additional information or to sign the guestbook, visit www.mundyfh.com.

This is Ellen McKee Mayer. Gene told me tonight about Lee Ann's passing. I am so sorry to hear of this and send my sympathy and prayers to all of you. She was such a wonderful person. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
