JOHN "JACK" H. MCDOWALL
AGE: 85 LEBANON TWP.
John "Jack" H. McDowall, 85, of Lebanon Township, NJ passed away on Tuesday August 25, 2009 at Morristown Memorial Hospital. Born March 3, 1924 in Trumbull, CT. He obtained a BA from the University of Connecticut and was the Vice President of Hooper Holmes Co. in Basking Ridge, NJ for many years. John served in the US Army and was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, businessman and artist.
Son of the late John and Caroline Hauselieb McDowall, John is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Beatrice Dean McDowall, daughter Jennifer McDowall and her husband Ben Gavett and his three children Paul, David and Sylvia of New Berlin, NY, son John McDowall and his wife Cindy and their children Athena and John of Holland Township. John was pre-deceased by 2 brothers and 4 sisters.
A memorial service with Rev. James Morris officiating will be held on Tuesday September 1, 2009 at 11 AM at the Alexandria First Presbyterian Church of Mt. Pleasant, 141 Little York-Mt. Pleasant Rd. (Rte. 519), Alexandria Township, NJ. Visitation will be held on Monday August 31, 2009 from 6 pm to 8 pm at the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Road, Holland Township, NJ. I knew Mr. McDowall as a loving grandfather, an avid rock collector, and someone who was full of knowledge. I have had the pleasure of knowing him for five years, and I always remember each occasion we were together. It is a sorrowful time but when I look back on the times I was with him it warms my heart.
