Katie Fierst Obituary

Katie Elizabeth Fierst

AGE: 84 • Hillsborough

Katie Elizabeth Fierst, 84, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013 surrounded by her loving children and grandchildren. Born Katie Piskorowski in Oil City, PA., Katie later moved to Hillsborough, NJ., where she was lifelong resident. Katie and her husband Matthew, who predeceased her, have owned and operated Sunhaven Farms for over fifty years in Hillsborough. Katie was a parishioner of Mary Mother of God Church Catholic Church.

Katie was a hardworking woman who happily spent her years farming and raising her seven children. She instilled in her children a great love for music, the importance of education, and the gift of faith. She was a very generous person, who always put her children before herself. All of her children were deeply touched by the unconditional love and devotion she gave to them. Katie had a special love for animals, and could always be found with a small dog upon her lap. She was an inspiration of all who knew her and will be greatly missed.

Katie was predeceased by her husband, Matthew Fierst (2010), her parents John and Anna Piskorowski, and brothers John Piskorowski Sr. and Zigmund Piskorowski. Katie was a gentle soul who will be sorely missed by her seven adoring children and their spouses; Kathleen and Richard Niemiec of Whitehouse Station, Barbara and Peter Falencki of Somerset, Matthew Jr. Fierst and Joannae Pankowski of Manville, John Fierst, Anne Marie Fierst, Susan and Wayne DiCenzo, all of Hillsborough, and Michael and Karen Fierst of Point Pleasant. Katie will always be loved by her nine grandchildren, Michael, Joseph and Matthew Falencki, Robert and Daniel DiCenzo, and Alison, Katie, Emily and Michael Jr. Fierst, her two step grandchildren, Jason and Tori Pankowski, and her two great-grandchildren, Annabelle and Emmalyn Falencki. Katie also leaves behind sisters Joanne Costanzo, Stella Utasi, Angie Miele, Genevieve Stanski, brothers Joe Valentine and Frank Piskorowski, sister-in-law Florence Pavenski, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Wednesday, December 18 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at the Hillsborough Funeral Home, 796 Route 206 in Hillsborough, NJ 08844. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday at 10 AM at Mary Mother of God Catholic Church, 157 South Triangle Road, Hillsborough, NJ 08844. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Hillsborough. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mary Mother of God Renovation Fund, "Continuing the vision", or to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
