I had the great fortune to meet Mr Alusik later in his life. I met him when he was umpiring youth baseball and softball games. Mr Alusik was a classy man and had a wonderful way with student athletes as they discovered their love of the game. RIP sir.

George was my favorite player as a kid in Denver in the 60s. My father said--he never looked like a ball player--lanky, wearing glasses. Looked more like a businessman. But he was a terrific player

I'll never forget hollering at him before the game . . and he waved back to me with his glove.

I'm sure others had similar wonderful stories about him.

As an eleven-year-old kid in Kansas City in 1962 who lived, ate and breathed baseball, one of my cherished memories of the Kansas City Athletics was attending a game with my seven-year-old brother where we had box seats right behind the 1st base dugout and watching the A's hit three back-to-back home runs, one of which was hit by George Alusik. Fireworks after home runs were a novelty in baseball then and I remember my eardrums feeling the brunt of those three explosions.

I worked with George at Fisher Scientific co in Springfield NJ, he was a good friend. I left Fischer in 1986, I remember him fondly. From time to timeout would wonder how he was doing. I sorry I missed his funeral, I would have paid my condolences, as I owed him that much. I always loved his stories about his time spent in MLB. Good bye George, I will see you again my friend

My sincere condolences to the Alusik family. Farlan, I remember your father reffing the Edison basketball league for many years. And I don't know if you remmeber this but when we both graduated MCC in 1987 you had me over your house and we spent our time talking to you Dad in the den. Years later, at my job I knew a card collector and I gave him a Lefty Grove card. In return I received a George Alusik card in great condition.

As a boy growing up in Kansas City in the '60's, I had the pleasure of seeing "Turk" play on a number of occasions at the old Municipal Stadium. Many years later I got his autograph and spoke with him briefly at one of the KCBHS reunions. My sincerest condolences.

The Kansas City Baseball Historical Society would like to extend our sympathy in the passing of George Alusik. George attended several of our Kansas City Athletics players reunions, and was honored to have him attend. Our thoughts and prayers are with Farlan and the rest of the family during this time. George will always be remembered here in Kansas City as a baseball hero, but for those who met him the past few years he has become an inspiration. Rest in peace George!
