Ronnie Ranson Obituary

Ronnie L. Ranson, 66, of Cecil, Pa., passed away peacefully Friday, March 28, 2014, at Allegheny General Hospital, in Pittsburg, following a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born Jan. 13, 1948, in Jacksonville, the only son of Mardelle Vieira Ranson of Jacksonville and the late Denby Ranson. Mr. Ranson served with the United States Army and was a member of the American Legion Post 902 of Houston. He was Presbyterian by faith and resided in the Pittsburg area since 1978. He had attended Illinois College, Bowman Technical School for jewelry repair and Zantech for watch making. Mr. Ranson, along with his wife, Cynthia, owned and operated Ranson Jewelers in Canonsburg, Pa., since August of 1979.

He was a member of the National Rifle Association and enjoyed spending time with his family. On July 17, 1971, he married Cynthia D. DelFine, who survives. Also left to cherish his memory are his three children, Phaedra (Trent) Nunley of Niceville, Fla., Corbin Ranson of Canonsburg, Pa., and Casey (Sarah) Ranson of Tyler, Texas; four grandchildren; Hailey, Delaney and Ava Nunley and Joseph Ranson; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 31, 2014. Full military rites were accorded by the VFW Post 191 honor guard. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or to the family and can be sent to the Salandra Funeral Service Inc., 304 W. Pike St., Canonsburg, Pa., 15317. Salandra Funeral Service Inc. was in charge of arrangments.
