She graduated from Hatch High School and later from Wayland Baptist University with an associate's degree. Shirley will be remembered for her outgoing personality, unique style and contagious smile. Shirley was first and foremost a loving mother and homemaker. She loved caring for her children, decorating and making her home and yard beautiful. She loved the outdoors, livestock and all of God's nature. Later in her life, Shirley worked as a Realtor in Plainview and then in Lubbock. Along with her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Coleman Stroud; a daughter, Roxanne Stroud; a sister, Fern Dunivan; and a brother, Leroy "Buster" Dickson. Stormie, I am so sorry I wasn't here when sweet Shirley passed away. Your mom always told me how proud she was of you.... and I am so proud to be your friend. I have watched you tirelessly take care of her these past couple of years when her health was waning, and especially this past year. You put so much of your life on hold to care for her and I know how much that meant to her. She told me at Brittany's wedding she didn't know what she would do without you. She looked forward to your two..maybe three times.. a day visits and your talks. You took her hand and gracefully and with dignity took her home. I know you cherish the time you had together... You are fortunate to have had that special time with both your parents. I know Shirley is at peace now and full of life again...just like your daddy. Now it's your turn to take care of yourself. I love you dearly. Sharon

Stormie, Jason and sisters: your mother was an extraordinary woman!! One of a kind!! As a child I was in awe of her and wanted to be around her as much as possible, I know you will all miss her terribly, especially you Stormie she was such a big part of your life on a day to day basis . Aunt Shirley is the lucky one with all her loved ones that had gone before her "sittin on the front porch" may God comfort you all till He reunites us all in heaven.

We as a group of health aides and her therapists over the recent years adored Mrs. Stroud. She had a way of making us laugh and even though we tried not to get to attached we did. She loved her children and we enjoyed meeting all of them at one time or another. Blessings to all of you.

Tami, so sorry for your loss for you and your sisters. I remember when your mother was having trouble with her health a couple of years ago and I met you and your mother for the first time, I thought, what a beautiful woman. Three times a week Tami you would greet me at the door and tell me how your mother was getting better and better. You gave your mother the inspiration to become stronger and not give up. She really depended on you. I know you got that strength from your mother. What strong women. Your mother was always a fighter of strong will.
