Raymond William Burzon, 83 years old passed way November 18, 2016.
Mr. Burzon was born in the Bronx, N.Y. On December 6, 1932. He was the son of Marie and William Burzon.
He is survived by his loving wife Eleanore Marie Burzon of 59 years. His sons, Dr. Edward C. Burzon and his wife Sandra; Kenneth W. Burzon and his wife Lisa; 7 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild.
Ray graduated from the school of industrial arts in Manhattan, NY and served in the Korean war as a Corporal in the US Army. After the Army, he became a commercial artist and was an art director for J. Walter Thompson in Manhattan, NY, working on Pan American Airlines, Ford and Proctor and Gamble accounts. Later he went on to Ayers advertising and retired with his wife to Myrtle Beach in 1990.
At age 16, Ray joined the Squire youth group and advanced to 4th degree as member of the Knights of Columbus in St. Andrews Parish and served a term as a Grand Knight. Earlier, he helped organized the Squire Youth Group in Bergenfield, NJ.
He was an active member of St. Andrews and served as an usher for many years.
Ray was a very involved Scout Master for 5 years in St. Margaret's Parish in Pearl River, N.Y.
He loved doing oil paintings, gardening, swimming and was an avid reader. Most of all he loved being with his family.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7pm on Monday, November 21, 2016 at McMillan- Small Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 6:00 pm
A Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at St Andrews Catholic Church, directed by McMillan Small Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Andrews Catholic Church or Ann Seton Building Fund or Lower Cape Fear Hospice.
