To the Burrows Family; I swam with John for many years, he was always friendly and competitive, we often swam in the same 'old' boy relays at meets...RIP John.

Oh, my darling Johanna, how heavy your heart must be. I have been thinking of you so much in the past few months. I am so sad to hear of John's passing, but I know he is now released from pain and sorrow. How can I ever forget him arriving at our door at Christmas dressed as a Christmas tree -- we just had to plug him in!! Or the Saudi tent in your living room on Banff?? I swam with John and was his back of the dragon boat paddling partner for a couple of years. We had some good times back there, lots of laughs. He was a great guy. He gave his all in anything he did. He will surely be missed.

John would call the house to check in from time to time. Always a pleasure to talk to.

While visiting Bob today, I learned of Johns passing, I'm so sorry I wasent aware in time to attend his memorial. Sending huge hugs as a bright light on Stinson Ave has dimmed. I'm forever thankful for the kindness your family brought to the community and will treasure even more the memory of John restoring my fathers canoe paddle, it hangs in a place of honour next to mine. Strength and healing to all of his family. On behalf oh the Hall family.

I was shattered by the news of John's passing as I had no idea he was battling cancer. John was a good friend I met through through NMSC. He was fun to be with, had a great sense of humour and always ready with cheeky come back. He was a great athlete, a terrific Dragon Boat captain and a superlative wood worker. I will treasure all the more the DB paddle he made by hand. All of his paddles made a difference on race day! John had a deep respect for our Canadian veterans and if memory serves,...
