Not sure what to say?

Nancy was more than a friend. She was a mentor and was always there to listen, and encourage. She always showed interest in what I was doing, how I was doing, and what my dreams of the future were. I feel very blessed to have known her and to have had her encouragement and friendship.

Mrs Chance was more than a teacher, she encouraged a generation of girls to question everything, to be curious and to look for answers. We were all very lucky to have had her challenge and support us. She was a role model for so many. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.

Mrs. Chance was my Grade 8 English teacher and a huge influence in my life. She was tough, but probably the first person who taught me how to read as well as think and write about what I read. I kept in touch with her as best I could over the years, and was happy to have had tea with her in her house within the last year. She and Mr. Chance were great friends to my parents, and Mrs. Chance was a wonderful support to my Mum after the death of my Dad. I was saddened to hear of her death and...

Nancy Chance has always been a star
to our family. My parents were friends
early in my life(a student of Elmwood 1954).
I met those sparkling eyes & stimulating
character when I was 7 years of age. Nancy
was a blessing to our daughter Jennifer at
Elmwood in 1985. Nancy continued with
her compassion and support until Jen. died in 1994 at age 21 following an 8 year challenge with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis.
Nancy has always been a wonderful...

I consider myself very fortunate to have been a little part of Nancy's life the past couple of years. I helped her with exercises and pain control. She helped me by making the time together so very enjoyable. She shared wonderful stories with me and much laughter. The twinkle in her eyes was always there, so invigorating I will miss her but let the memories brighten my day.

So many people living all over the world will now be remembering Mrs Chance as their favorite teacher. We have so many wonderful memories which will stay with us forever.

It's amazing to think how many girls' lives she guided and supported and for so many decades we all felt a very high regard for this warm, kind (but strict) and inspirational woman who was such an excellent English and History teacher to us all.

Mrs. Chance was very dear to my heart and during my years living...

My sincere condolences to the Chance family. I didn't know Nancy but met Chris from a previous employer we both worked for & as a friend. I'm very sorry for your loss. She sounds like a wonderful lady.

Our sincere condolences. I was fortunate to have Nancy as a mentor in my first years of teaching and of being able to visit often summer of 2017. And to treasure one of her watercolours.

I am very sad to read that Mrs. Chance has passed away. I remain grateful to this day for the joy she brought to my late mom, Betty. Their phone chats brought my mother (and me) back to the good old days on Kilbarry Crescent. My deepest sympathies to Chris, Jenny and Judy for their loss. May your mom rest in peace after living a full and successful life.
