Not sure what to say?

Shirley was one of the nicest my family has ever known. So kind, active, progressive and just a gift to this world. I am so glad my kids grew up knowing her and loving her! She made a real difference in our community. Our sincerest sympathies! Lynn Forrest, Tony, Amy and Alex Cook

I am so sorry for your loss. Aunt Shirley was a wonderful woman, and I have fond memories of her and Uncle Lorne. My family is thinking of you and your families at this time, and you are in our thoughts and prayers.

To all her family & friends she held so dear .... I am writing this in shock upon just learning the sad news of Shirley's loss. It feels so very wrong to be sending heartfelt sympathy instead of festive greetings at this time of year. For the brief 4 years when I (only in my early 20's) worked with Shirley at the House of Commons in the mid 1970's, she was a most wonderful mentor, friend, and true inspiration to me! She was wise, kind, gracious, giving, full of spirit, fun and life ... a...

The Families of Greg, Jeff and Brian,
You have my sincere sympathy in the loss of Shirley, a dear friend who was admired by everyone who knew her.
Though grief can be painful may it help to know how much others care.
Visits to Shirley's cottage or to her home will always be remembered.
Marilyn Shouldice Craig

Jeff, Brian, and Greg: My heartfelt condolences go out to you for the loss of your mother. I hope the shock and sadness of her sudden passing is greatly surpassed by your precious memories of her long life, fully lived and well loved.

I am so sorry for your loss. I met Shirley in 2014, at the Wakefield Community Centre. She was part of the Mobility class I was teaching there. She attended the first season and didn't continue after that because according to Shirley, the class was too easy for her. She told me she wanted to do something more challenging. That's how I remember her: strong and bright. I saw her taking care of her beautiful garden many times from my window. She will be greatly missed.

My deepest sympathy.

Sincere sympathy to Shirley's family, her sisters, nieces and nephews, and cousins. Joan, Keith and Cathy often spoke about Shirley and her vibrant life. My Uncle Everett tells me that even though Shirley was 2 years younger she was in their class at school! I was told that she started teaching school at 16! For many years Shirley organized buses of Wakefield and area residents to come to Shawvile United Church's Christmas bazaar. It was there that I last visited with Shirley. May all of your...

Greg, Jeff, Brian and family,
So sad to hear about your dear mom. She was such a kind and gentle person. So many fond memories up at Pike Lake.
