Derek WALTER passed away in KINGSTON, Ontario. Funeral Home Services for Derek are being provided by James Reid Funeral Home, Cataraqui Chapel. The obituary was featured in Ottawa Citizen on April 30, 2018.
I would like to offer to the family of Derek Walter my sincerest condolences on behalf of the Army, Navy and Air Force Veterans in Canada. We are very proud of the work he did on the Shoulder to Shoulder magazine for our organization, he will be extremely hard to replace. We will remember him,may he rest in eternal peace.

I was a working companion with Derek for over 20 years in the newspaper trade. He was always upbeat and positive, except when the paper was delayed being printed on our end in Renfrew, he taught me to get ahead be positive and take a chance when necessary. I am so sorry for you loss. Mom asked me the other night what my best memory of Derek was and I told her, I loved when he would always show up at the end of our dinner just in time to get desert. I can remember him trying to get me to eat by teasing me that he would eat my desert. He never did get to taste mine. I will miss being teased by Derek, he always made me feel special.
