Not sure what to say?

Wanda & family,
Although, I hadn't seen Uncle Duffer for a while, I remember him vividly. Always, teasing me when I was a kid, seems like yesterday. His passing was very tough on my mom (Virginia), she said he was like her little brother. He touched many lives and will live on in our memories. Candy (Smith) Ottum.
( I also lived in Ellensburg, Wa. Now live in Dallas, OR. )

Though these words are coming in late our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Keep taking care the best you can. Duffers carismatic spirit/memories will float among the winds of Darrington for a very long time

Dear Wanda, I am so sorry about the death of your beloved husband Duffer. I never met him, but he was my first cousin once removed.
Sincerely, Audrey D. Keck

My Uncle Duffer was the one of the sweetest and kindest men I knew as a child. He was patient and understanding. The world would be improved if it contained more men like Duffer Smith. In my family, Duffer is greatly missed.

Wanda and Family, We had a toast to Duffer Friday during Happy Hour at The Red Top. Everyone enjoyed his visits and his stories. Tolly said "Duffer never would of wanted a bunch of people standing around crying over him" as in a funeral. We will truly miss him. Tolly and Mildred Sue

Wanda: Sorry for your loss. This was unexpected. I saw Duffer the last time time I was in Darrington several months ago and he gave me a family update, He will be missed. take care, John/ Nancy Wood/Bascom

Wanda recently told us that someone said to her "I loved that cranky old man". That was perfect. Duffer was one of a kind, and everyone who knew him had to feel the same way. Whether it was hours spent in the crummy, the brush or the blind, that time with him will never be forgotten. Although, some may consider this a dubious honor, he's the only guy whose name was bestowed on our favorite retriever. And, the kids -- you have to love a guy that makes your children feel special. Duffer...

I am so sad to hear of Duffer's passing. He was a good friend to Bill all the years they worked together. He will be missed.
