Josh was at once the coolest guy in the room, but never mean or pretentious. We really bonded senior year of high school during the best study hall ever, and then we were cast as the romantic leads in the school musical that year. He somehow made sock garters cute. I have this distinct memory of tying a piece of fishing line through his lip ring hole so he wouldn't be wearing a lip ring on stage. It was hilarious and intimate and absurd and then on stage I'd be looking at his face, giggling...
