Penny Lee Hines (Blankenship), 72, a 1964 graduate of Logan High School and 1966 graduate of Hocking Valley College. Penny was a resident of Marietta Ohio and died peacefully in her sleep surrounded by loved ones in Malta Ohio, Thursday, Sept. 20, 2018. Born August 12, 1946 in Logan, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Frieda Brown Thompson.

Nothing meant more in Penny's life than her family. She was a loving mother and wife as well as an entrepreneur who operated a business with her husband Tom for nearly 45 years. A survivor of polio, Penny shared a love for competition with her family. She spent decades traveling and supporting all her children and grandchildren. From little league games at the fairgrounds and Marietta High School sports to BMX races across the country. Penny was an easy friend with a loving heart and giving spirit. Penny cherished friends from coast to coast made through years of diligence in her attempt not to be swindled by her Beanie Baby friends.

Surviving family are her brothers Roy Blankenship of Circleville, OH and Jim Blankenship of Reynoldsburg, OH. Her husband of 52 years Tom, and their children and families, Todd and Peggie of Summerville, SC, Tony and Carla of Summerville, SC and Troy and Heather of Goose Creek, SC. Penny was also a loving grandmother to Chase, Hack, Jacobi, Rock and Emmy Grace.

Abiding by her wishes, cremation will be observed with no services. The family has planned a gathering of friends and family to celebrate Penny's life. It will be held in Logan Ohio on September 29th at 1pm at United Brethren in Christ Church at 297 Riff St.

In lieu of flowers and cards Penny suggested donations be sent to a no kill pet shelter. She claimed that starting with Tom in 1964, she has always been fond of strays.
