Ulrich was the most humble man I have ever known. He always brought a smile to my face when I would see Greta and him together at Grace Chapel each Sunday. I just learn of his passing and am so sorry I did not know about the service for him. I will always remember Ulrich and will miss him greatly. He was a very special person.

Prof Becker was one of the professors I worked most closely with when I did my PhD at MIT. He gave me tremendous help and guidance on my study and research there. I still remember in order to help us prepare the oral qualification exam, he organized a study group and assigned a topic every week. Ulrich was a warm person. He was a dear friend with wonderful charm, humor, a rebellious attitude towards convention, and sheer brilliance in experimental physics. We are honored to have shared happy and delightful times together with him and his family. We are deeply saddened at his passing, even as we also rejoice that he lived his life to the fullest generously sharing his wit, knowledge and grace with everyone from his family, friends, students and colleagues. Ulrich has been a collaborator and friend since 1992 when I started my career as a physicist. He helped me find my path in my career as a physicist. He was an exquisite experimentalist and a generous human being with a wonderful sense of humor. I have always had the deepest of respect for him. He will be greatly missed.
