He was a kind man who had an eventful and interesting life; unbeknownst to many people, he quietly helped those less fortunate. His memory for these things will live on.

Uncle Merle was an important surrogate father to my mother when their own father died while she was a young girl. Years later both he and my Auntie Pete watched over my mother and me after my dad died when I was still a little boy. I will never forget the kindness and support that were given to us many years ago. My mother and I mourn the loss of a key figure in our lives. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
