I heard of Michael's death late yesterday upon returning from Lancaster, PA.

Dear Margie, Students, Staff, Parents, and Alumni,
Our hearts and prayers are with each of you during this time a great mourning. Michael was an incredible person and teacher with commitment and love beyond measure. There are no words to adequately express the deep gratitude we feel for all he did for our family. Though Michael's physical presence is gone, his spirit will forever abide with us as we continue to learn and live the lessons he taught.

Michael was a wonderful, caring man with the greatest insight for finding out what old hurts can still effect and inhibit personal growth. His example and his personal story of triumph over his own issues will always inspire me.

Michael made life changing contributions to many children and their families and to non-traditional education. I have heard from more than one person that he, Michael, saved my life or the life of their child. His dedication to working with adolescents and their families, the committment to his philosophy and his willingness to take risks and utilize unconventional strategies can not be easily compared. Michael will be missed by many. If you're listening Michael, thank you for all you are and...
