A.E. Newcomb Obituary

A.E. "JACK" NEWCOMB Passed away on July 12, 2013 at the age of 90. He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Beverly, who died in February of 2013. Jack was born in Canon City, CO in 1923 where he lived until moving to Riverside with his family in 1941. During WWII he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a bomber pilot stationed in Europe. In 1946 he began working for the Riverside County Road Department where he was employed for 28 years before becoming Riverside County Planning Commissioner in 1974. He held the position with the planning department for 6 years before returning to the road department as Road Commissioner. Jack retired in 1983. He loved to play golf and fish. He is survived by his daughters Jaclyn Johnson (Tony), and Janice Newcomb; and his four grandchildren Keri, Kevin, Roger and Amanda. He was preceded in passing by his oldest daughter, Joyce Housewright. A Funeral Service will be held on Fri., July 19, 2013 at 10am at Acheson & Graham Mortuary, 7944 Magnolia Ave., Riverside with burial to follow at Olivewood Memorial Park. I knew Jack really well. He was my neighbor for 22 years. Growing up with him was a great thing. He became a grandfather to me. Always so cheerful and giving. I wish I could be there during this time. He will be missed!
